Isn't it wonderful how ol' Hoagy and the boys honored the blues of the poorest folks in the South by showing clips ol mammy scrubbin' da clothes, an Rufus asleep on de poach. Heh Heh heh, we Jewish song composers up here in New York love to celebrate the great American negro. (From a safe distance of course) By the way, I don't see any colored up there in that orchestra.

The song's creator William Costello's version of this song where he would scat sing during the jazzy instrumental sections was used by Max Fleischer in a Betty Boop cartoon in 1932. In 1933, Fleischer hired Costello as the first voice of Popeye The Sailor in 1933.

In Venezuela back in 1930 playing this song was mandatory to be accepted to play in a venue (generally the gigs were organized with musicians that haven't played together before), so the phrase "matar un tigre" ("to kill a tiger" as a way to say that someone was going to play later that day in a venue) came from this song.

Sweden is very much "naturally the land of bagpipes!" Gunhild is playing the Swedish Sackpipa. When most people think of bagpipes they imagine the Scottish Great Highland Bagpipe, due to the British having exported them across the globe via distribution of Scottish Regiments throughout the Empire in the 18th & 19th centuries. However, Scotland isn't the only country with a bagpipe tradition, and in fact the instrument didn't originate there. Bagpipes are a pastoral instrument can be found in many regions where there are shepherds, such as Italy, Bulgaria, Spain, and Germany, among others, and likely came from the Mediterranean area originally; possibly having been distributed throughout the Mediterranean rim and Europe during the Roman Empire.
